Although their music sometimes bears strong similarities to the technological, progressive trade name of death metal centered around Gothenburg, Sweden, and epitomized by bands care In Flames, Shadows Fall in reality hails from Massachusetts. Guitarists Jonathan Donais and Matthew Bachand formed the band in 1996, and by the summer of the following year the batting order had curdled with singer Phil Lebonte, bassist Paul Romanko, and drummer David Germain. Building their songs around the stop-start pace and riff changes pioneered by bands like Metallica, Slayer, and Iron Maiden, the striation toured New England and eventually snagged opening slots for acts of the Apostles like Fear Factory and Cannibal Corpse. Toward the end of 1997, they recorded a self-financed, self-released album titled Drab Eyes to the Sky, which eventually charted in CMJ's Loud Rock Top Ten and was picked up for oversea distribution. In 1998, Shadows Fall replaced Lebonte with other Overcast vocaliser Brian Fair, a more versatile isaac Merrit Singer capable of treatment air as well as pure hostility. After further touring, the band scored a circle with Century Media in 1999; their number 1 widely distributed domestic record album, Of One Blood, was issued in early 2000. Soon after, Germain left hand the band and was replaced by drummer Jason Bittner. After releasing The Art of Balance in 2002 the band fatigued the summer of 2003 on the Ozzfest turn, earning a larger fan infrastructure thanks to their intense live take the stand. In turn, their 2004 album The War Within debuted at figure 20 on the Billboard Top cc charts. A collection of tracks left off the album appeared in 2006 as Fallout from the War. It was followed by Duds of Life in 2007.

Vancouver, Canada's Theory of a Deadman became the first do to polarity with Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger's 604 Records imprint in 2001. Tyler Connolly (vocals/guitar) reportedly slipped a copy of the band's demonstration to Kroeger at a post-concert party and the two were shortly collaborating on songs together. One of these, "Invisible Man," was exploited as the B-side for 2002's wildly successful Spider-Man

Ricky Gervais - Russia To Get Own Version Of The Office

A Russian version of hit British comedy 'The Office' is due to be made later this year after the BBC negotiated a rights package with one of the country's leading TV stations.

BBC Worldwide have sold the rights to Russia's Channel One broadcaster, who will commission 24 half-an-hour-long episodes of the comedy for screening next year.

The deal means Russia will be the latest country to have its own version of Ricky Gervais' popular character David Brent - the chirpy but cringeworthy office manager at Slough paper company Wernham Hogg.

The Office, which was co-written by Gervais and Stephen Merchant, has won several awards in the UK and abroad and has spawned several foreign language spinoffs, including the first in France in 2006.

Arguably the most successful version saw Hollywood comedian Steve Carell take on the role of Michael Scott - a boss in a similar vein to Gervais' Brent - in the US version, first broadcast in 2005.

The deal with Russian TV means scriptwriters can pen their own plots to episodes that do not necessarily have to follow the narratives of the English versions.

The show has now been sold to more than 70 countries worldwide and remains Gervais and Merchant's best-loved work, despite the pair enjoying similar critical acclaim for their follow-up comedy series Extras.
